Sabra from So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD)

Today is the big day. Andy is coming home. Yaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! Gotta go pick him up.
Look at me, I’m so happy.

In a WSJ article headlined, “A $99 Desktop Comes With Software, Backup and Too Many Catches”, it reads that for just $99 someone can own a desktop computer preloaded with full versions of 20 popular types of software. And when I read that, I thought to myself, “Oh, maybe $99 is some type of a hard drive and not an actual computer”. Then I kept reading.
This new PC, called Zonbu, from a new company of the same name, automatically recieves free updates of its software when new versions come out. It doesn’t require antivirus or other securtiy programs because it runs on the Linux operating system, which has attracted very few viruses or spyware programs. And it takes up almost no room-it’s a tiny little box.
Now heres the “tiny little box”…
So does this mean I have to buy a monitor? If so then it’s not a “complete” desktop. But for what I get it’s not bad for the price. Zonbu, the company that makes this very inexpensive desktop, says that there “overall goal is to vastly simplify the process of buying and using a computer. The idea is to make it not only more affordable, but also much less of a hassle and much more energy efficient.”
Now did someone say something about a “catch”? In the WSJ article it mentions…
The biggest catch is that the Zonbu computer doesn’t include a hard disk for storing files (that’s one reason it uses so little energy). Instead, all of your files are stored online on the company’s servers. That offers several advantages, such as the fact that the files are automatically backed up. But you have to pay for online storage.
And there’s more…
In fact, to get the $99 price for the Zonbu computer, you have to commit to a two-year contract at prices ranging from $12.95 a month for a relatively small 25 gigabytes of storage to $19.95 a month for 100 gigabytes. If you opt to pay month to month instead of two years in advance, the Zonbu will cost you $249.
I knew it was too good to be true. I thought I could buy a $99 desktop, not a $249 hard drive.
By comparison, you can get a Dell Inspiron 531s for just $529, after rebate. It has twice the memory, a DVD drive and a much better processor than the Zonbu. And it comes with a screen keyboard, speakers and mouse-oh and a 160-gigabyte hard disk that requires no monthly fee.
After reading the article, Zonbu may have some some pluses over the traditional desktop but I’m not easily swayed to jump on the Zonbu bandwagon. If you would like to read more about this $99 hard drive computer please click on the image.
From what I understand, Cracker Barrel sells one of the best breakfast. This seems like something only a select few knew. I didnt know. All this time instead of eating ICrap I could have gone to Cracker Barrel?

Luckily for me Andy went to Ohio and told me about C.B. He said he had the best breakfast he ever had. And that says a lot since Andy doesnt like to eat out too much. He’s not a big foodie like me. Tomorrow morning I’ve arranged to pick up Andy at the airport and from there were heading off to C.B. I’ll keep you posted on how the food taste. ![]()
I miss Andy. Andy come home soon :-(. I cant wait for Sunday morn.
For those who care about traveling to Washington D.C. , from NYC, in a shorter amount of time, there’s good news. Amtrak is offering a morning train ride service on thier Acela Express train. I mean it’s only 10 minutes shorter, but every little bit helps.
A woman in Germany lived with a pencil in her head for 55 years.
Margret Wegner fell over carrying the pencil when she was four. It punctured her cheek and part of it went into her brain, above the right eye.
The 59-year-old has suffered headaches and nosebleeds for most of her life.
Surgeons in Berlin were able to remove most of the pencil in a two-hour operation, but a 2cm section was so embedded it was impossible to remove.
Professor Hans Behrbohm, a specialist in endoscopic sinus surgery at the Berlin-Weissensee clinic, carried out the operation and said Mrs Wegner was now mobile and not experiencing any pain.
“The central part of the foreign body was encapsulated in soft tissue and was not causing the patient any harm, so it was safe to leave it,” he told the BBC News website.
“This was a difficult area to operate on but modern medical techniques meant it was a calculated danger.
“She no longer has a headache and will be able to smell again. Her olfactory senses had been blocked by polyps.”
The pencil measured 8cm (3.1 inches) long, and had narrowly missed damaging an optical nerve. At the time of the accident doctors said it would be too dangerous to operate because it was so close to the brain.
Dr Behrbohm said he was able to carry out the procedure using a 3D reconstruction of Mrs Wegner’s interior skull, and an endoscopic surgical system which allowed him to open the frontal sinus, which had suffered serious inflammation.
Mrs Wegner’s husband, Ulli Wegner, a boxing coach, praised his wife’s bravery and said she is making a good recovery.
but I thought it was funny. I just wanted to share since I want to get into this industry.

today to go to Ohio to see his big sister. She is moving from her dorm at OSU to an apartment in Cleveland to do her clinicals at the nearby hospital. She needed some “muscle” to help her move. I’m going to miss my baby. Til we meet again Cm, til we meet again :-(.
