Counting calories gets easier

23 08 2007

Here’s a great way to know how much calories to eat. Just multiply your weight by 15 and that number is the amount of calories you need to stay under. For example, let’s say my weight is 200. I will multiply 200 x 15 and get 3000. That is the amount of calories I am consuming on a daily basis, which is too much. If I stay under, I’ll lose weight. If I eat the same amount, then I’ll plateau. And if I eat more, then I’ll gain weight. You get the idea.

Who knew…

22 08 2007

exercising at home made you sweat? I got off work and drove home and wanted to walk to the supermarket so I can burn some calories. I eventually didnt go because it looked like it was going to rain. I didnt know what to do because I ate really bad the last few days. For three days straight for lunch, I would have a hamburger and fries combo. I know… bad, bad, bad.

I couldnt resist. I didnt want to spend too much money on food and not surprisingly the food that’s bad for you was cheaper than the healthy food. So I compromised my waistline and fell into the trap.

Anyways, I was home and didnt know what to do. I wanted to burn the hamburger and fries. So I tuned in to ON Deman’s exercise tv and worked my a** off. The program I was working out to was so intense I was sweating. I later showered and I felt so refreshed. I also burned close to 400 calories. I was so happy. Even though I only burned off a french fry,  every little bit helps.

I am definitely going to work out at home again. It’s very convenient and no one has to look at you and/or body jiggle. :-)

Know your food

22 08 2007

Hello dieters or healthy lifestyle…livers, here’s a great website that provides the nutritional facts of every type of food. The website is called Nutrition Data. This is how it works. Let’s say you eat a bowl of grits. Type in grits in the search box and the site is going to populate a list of different type of grits and how it was prepared.

Once you click on which grits closely matched what was consumed, then a nutritional facts label will appear with every type of information you can find about your breakfast. Pretty neat huh? Please take advantage of this tool. It will really help you count calories and eating to a better you.

I wish my weekend was longer

19 08 2007

Friday Andy took off from work because he wasnt feeling well and his dog and friend of 8 years died…Rudy. She was a Siberian Husky who died because she had cancer. Andy and his family are a bit sad right now. He wasnt as close to Rudy as he is with his rottweiler, Sonny, but Rudy was still part of the family.

That day we just chilled at my house and ate some fried whiting and french fries, drank beer and watched Bourne Ultimatum.  We were planning on riding our bikes that day but it rained hard so we decided to ride on Saturday.

Saturday came and went. We finally rode our bikes. I rode about 10.53 miles. I’m really proud of myself. I just wish they make bike seats more comfortable. Then Andy and I got ready to go to Carmine’s restaurant in the theatre district of NYC. It food was good but not hot enough for us. We like our food piping hot. The portions are huge and they do encourage sharing, but Andy and I wanted to try different entree’s and not share.

Only a fraction of their entrees come with pasta, which I think doesnt make sense. Andy ordered the shrimp scampi and I ordered the chicken parmesan and it didnt come with pasta. So we had to pay for a plate of pasta which cost $10. Who eats shrimp scampi with no pasta? For dessert, I had the Italian cheesecake. It was very good. Anyways, we both had a great time and may plan to go back to Carmine’s with friends and/or family.

Sunday, Andy and I woke up hungry. We wanted to go to the Cracker Barrel again. This time I invited my mom. We both had the Big Momma’s pancake breakfast and my mom had the Big Momma’s french toast breakfast. The food was as usual great and everything came up to $28.61. My mom was suprised at the price. It was really cheap. We are definitely going back again.

Please note: I refuse to post pics of myself at C.B. because I didnt like the way I looked.

Whenever I eat a big meal I get really tired and I have to sleep. After my big breakfast at the Cracker Barrel I quickly drove home and went right to bed. I didnt have the chance to ride my bike because I was soooooooo tired. And it also rained so I dont feel too bad. Other than day my weekend was still short but I got a lot done.

Bye Rudy B.

SPRINTed into trouble

16 08 2007

I have only been a Sprint customer for one hour and I already experienced terrible customer service. I just bought my phone at the retail Sprint store and the rep neglected to tell me about insurance and took it upon himself to add a $7/ month insurance for me like I’m a six year old child and I cant think for myself. I asked him to take it off and he said he couldnt right now because he was not able to access my account since it was new.

While I was driving home, I called Sprint myself and they were able to remove the insurance. The funny thing about the whole thing was I would have considered getting insurance but the fact he just added it on without my knowledge, was very deceitful. I was so close to going back to Verizon. The reason why I went with Sprint is because there nights start at 7pm, and their data service is $15/month rather than $50 that Verizon charges and Andy has Sprint so I dont have to pay to talk to him. I just bought a Treo 755p and I like it. So far so good. I just cant say the same about Sprint’s customer service.

And the worst thing about it all was when I called Sprint and told the rep what happened at the store he said, “Well we like to add insurance on customer’s accounts since they dont have to pay full price for the new phone blah, blah, blah.” He was not apologetic at all and he basically condoned what the retail rep did.

I ripped the phone rep a new a**hole and told him that if Sprint wants to add services on accounts that customers didnt ask for and continue on with their deceitful practices, then I dont want to be a part of it. And then he asked why I was yelling at him. I told him that you are not being a good representative of Sprint because he was not apologetic and he mentioned that he doesnt know what the reps in retail stores do because he works at a different location and he only handles Nextel accounts. Basically, Sprint has different departments and one department doesnt know nor care what the other department does.

I really SPRINTed into trouble. I am going to give them one more chance. If I have to call them again for the same foolishness, I’m going to cancel my account and pay the termination fee. Or better yet, I will keep calling them and have them cancel my account for me so I dont have to pay the termination fee. Hey! That sounds like an even better idea.

A bit on edge

15 08 2007

Sorry for not writing. I have an “appointment” tomorrow and I hope everything goes well. I’ll keep you posted.

May get another one

13 08 2007

I’m tempted to get another tattoo. I was watching a repeat of MSNBC’s Tattoos: Skin Deep and I was fascinated with Anil Gupta’s work. His tattoos look like real paintings. Gupta works out of Inkline Studios in New York City. Here are a few pics of his work.
