Old news…new again

29 05 2008

While I’ve been away from my on again, off again bf Andrew, who is right on cue crawlin back into my life, I’ve gained weight. I knew I gained weight because when I walk I can feel my thighs rubbing more than before and my clothes are getting tighter and my face is getting bigger.

I guess when I was away from him I was “happy eating” and enjoying life. But I got carried away. I have to lose the pounds because I like my clothes and I dont want to buy anymore. LOL! I’m have to get back on to my M.I.T (milf in training) lifestyle…not diet.

So wish me luck!

This is cool

22 05 2008

I was thinking between getting either an Xbox 360 or Wii. But the Wii is calling my name more now than ever. Here’s there new toy…

wii fit

wii

wii

Nintendo’s Wii home video-game console is no longer content only to play. Now it wants to tone your body too.

The Wii Fit exercise game arrives in stores nationwide Wednesday with more than 40 fitness activities ranging from yoga and aerobics to balance and strength training.

Ever since the little white Wii hit the market 18 months ago, fans haven’t been able to get enough of its physically interactive games, which get players up off the couch and make them simulate boxing, bowling and tennis.

Old-folks homes and hospitals followed suit, using the motion-sensitive controllers for what was quickly dubbed “Wiihabilitation.”

Now Nintendo is betting that the marriage of gaming and movement will ensure the success of Wii Fit — which, for $89.99, includes the “Balance Board” and the Wii Fit game disc — and make a stronger, leaner and generally healthier gamer.

The Balance Board is actually a dual scale that measures both the player’s left and right sides for pressure and weight.

Developers got the idea from watching the weigh-ins for sumo wrestlers, who are so heavy they have to use two scales placed side by side.

Like a sumo wrestler, gamers will have to step up to the scale to discover their own weight. Depending on your own extra poundage, the experience can be just as depressing as middle-school gym class.

Using each player’s personal avatar, or Mii, users enter the world of the virtual — and hopefully actual — workout with a weigh-in that measures body mass index (BMI) based on height and weight.

Players are labeled “underweight,” “normal,” “overweight” or “obese”; the Wii then adds or subtracts the pounds to your hapless Mii, depending on what it finds.

The practice is already controversial, with one unnamed British father lamenting to London’s Daily Mail that his 10-year-old daughter, who stands 4-foot-9 and weighs about 90 pounds, was labeled “fat” — Wii Fit doesn’t actually use that word — despite her active lifestyle.

Nintendo’s British division quickly put out a press statement that calculations on children may not be indicative of their actual health.

If you’re an adult, though, tough luck; this is a game, albeit one that tries to motivate. If you have a tubby Mii, Wii Fit offers an opportunity to decide weight-loss goals, and even creates a schedule to achieve them.

(Don’t worry: Wii Fit knows that weight is personal, so it includes an option to password-protect the character so no one but you and your Wii have to know exactly how much you’ve let yourself go.)

Once the initial embarrassment is over, it’s time for the fun and the sweating to begin.

Wii Fit divides its workout program into four categories — yoga, strength training, aerobics and balance.

A trainer — players get a choice of male or female — leads the first two groups, while the latter two are filled with games that feel more like, well, games.

Unfortunately, Wii Fit doesn’t have a set exercise routine, so gamers will have to find the combination that works best for them.

For those who’ve never ventured into a real gym, demonstrations of each strength-training and yoga move give a good overview, with the trainer offering tips as the gamer tries to mirror him or her.

Novices, though, may find themselves more concerned with keeping their balance in the shaded yellow areas than with focusing on proper form.

The best activities are the aerobic and balance games. Hula Hoop lets one gyrate like Dita Von Teese on Pixy Stix, while the winter sports that hone balance — ski slalom, ski jump and snowboard slalom — are surprisingly addictive approximations of the real events.

Kids are likely to love soccer heading and the penguin slide, which turns the Mii into a penguin on the hunt for dinner while sliding around on an iceberg.

Other activities, such as basic step, fall short. That program moves at a snail’s pace and the “Dance Dance Revolution”-style footprint system is likely to confuse users unfamiliar with the format.

Wii Fit does its best to motivate users, but it’s pretty easy to cheat.

On aerobic activities such as the Basic Run — which doesn’t require the balance board, only the Wii remote — just moving your arms back and forth will make the Mii jog through the course.

With strength-training jackknifes, Wii Fit records your progress by the time your feet touch the board. That makes it easy for a tired user to just lie on the floor and tap his or her feet to the proper time, outsmarting the system.

To counteract cheaters, Wii Fit works on a rewards system. The more Wii Fit is used, the more varied the activities.

For every minute of activity, a Fit Credit will be placed in the Mii’s piggy bank. As the credits add up, Wii Fit unlocks more advanced activities for users to tackle.

Wii Fit is what you make it. Users who want to work up a sweat will. And they’ll do so through all that Wii Guilt that starts at the initial weigh-in.

Will Wii Fit help a chubby gamer lose 50 pounds? Probably not. But it could be the gateway game that gets him up on the balance board to better health.

I am going to train, with my little sister Pam, in the fight against Leukemia and Lymphoma. Both of us will be training for the Nike Women’s Run/Walk and possible the triathalon. I have to start raising money asap for the L & L Society and if I’m successful in training I can fly out to compete.

I really want to support a good cause and get in shape so why not? My little sister is also going to motivate me. I’m excited and nervous. Wish me luck everyone. :-)

ETA: If you’ll like to donate and help out a good cause, please click on the link under the “Search” bar to the right and make a donation. Thanx!

Skinny Jean Dreaming

28 11 2007

Can a girl get a break?! Can a girl fit into some gosh darn skinny jeans? I tell you every times I go to the mall I like to try on some skinny jeans. And once I get into the fitting room and put them on- it’s a no go. The jeans cant even slide over my thighs. I mean I cant help it. I’m a thick girl but damn being thick is a curse. All I need to lose is about a few inches on each leg and I’m good. But with the holidays coming and going, its been a bit hard.

skinjeans

Yes, I’m still involved in with thee “New You Competition” at my job, but we are all not motivating each other because we lost the momentum. We’re still going to try our best by the deadline. And once I fit into these “skinny” jeans they will be called “curvy jeans” :-). And I dont care if they’re out of style.

What’s your RealAge?

11 11 2007

Andy and I took the RealAge test the other day and I have great news…about myself? I am 26 years old but my RealAge is 22 ***applause all around***. Unfortunately for Andy, he took the test and even though Andy will be 29 on Nov. 21st, his RealAge is 38. Damn Andy! I like older men but damn.

realage

Andy’s not worried though. He looks young and he has a decent body but when I first met him he was very fit. But with working long hours at the job and not working out as often, Andy let himself go. But not by a lot. Both of us have plans. I plan on being a M.I.L.F and Andy a F.I.L.F. Age aint nothing but a number. :-)

Two for $3

9 11 2007

For those who dont know but McDonalds will be serving two sausage egg and cheese McMuffins for $3 bucks. I havent eaten McDonalds in awhile and all I want is the breakfast sandwich. I love McDonalds breakfast. I used to be a big fan of Burker King breakfast but for some reason the taste was rarely consistent and it didnt taste all that great.

I dont know I guess it depends on my mood because for awhile I didnt eat any McDonalds.  Oh well, right now I want my two breakfast sandwiches for $3 and I will be the first in line 2morrow morning :-). Its funny how I get so excited about food and I’m trying to lose weight :-(. So far my weight loss is coming along. My next scheduled weigh in is next week. I hope I lost some more weight because I have been working out very hard. We’ll see.

FYI: I didnt go to the gym today because I was too tired. LOL!

More people want to lose their money.

19 10 2007

First the weight loss challenge was just between me and Richard. Now six more people want to lose their money. I typed up a contract and everything. And all of us have to get weighed every two weeks. My starting weight is 184 pounds. The challenge is called the “New You Weight Loss Challenge”. So far four of my co-workers and both of my managers are hoping to lose weight and win the money.

loser

The only thing I changed was the goal weight. Before women had to lose at least 20 pounds and men 30 pounds by December 13th. Now it’s women 15 pounds and men 25 pounds. I wanted it to be fair and attainable. I pray I lose the most weight. I want to win the money.

I burned 875 calories today!

8 10 2007

I spent about two hours at the gym today and burned 875 calories. I am really working hard to lose weight. I burned about 508 calories on the elliptical and 375 on the treadmill. After my workout I felt great.

I feel bad though because later today I went to Wendys and ordered chicken nuggets :-(. I’m am so ashamed. I am going to the gym 2morrow after work to burn more calories.

nuggets

Andy and I (Yes! We gotten back to together, again) went to the movies on Saturday to watch Resident Evil 3. I didnt like how the movie ended but Andy liked it. After the movies, we went to my place and relaxed and I was bored so I took pictures of my new hairdo. This is just a temporary style. I did this to create a wavy do.

Lose 20 pounds or pay up

4 10 2007

My co-worker/friend Richard and I are planning on losing some weight. He gained weight because he just had a baby and I gained weight because I ate a baby…back ribs. Anyway, we made a wager. Since he is a man and he has the advantage (because you know guys lose weight faster than girls) we decided that he needed to lose 30 pounds and I had to lose 20 pounds by December 13th. Why December 13th? Because on the 15th I am going to Africa. Yay!!!

Anyway, the loser has to buy the winner a $150 gift card for a new wardrobe. I’m very excited and motivated. Right after work I went to the gym and burned calories on the treadmill, elliptical and I went to a spinning class. I cant wait to win. :-)

Drumroll Please…

28 09 2007

I would like to announce that I have been working out five times a week for the past couple of weeks, religiously. Yay!!! So far I am sticking to my work out plan. My diet needs a little work, just a little but all is good. I have been doing a lot of cardio and I love taking Step classes, because it’s all about coordination. And its fun.

Everyday, I burn about 600 calories on the treadmill and elliptical machines. I need to incorporate more weight training. My gym does offer strength classes so I am planning on taking them as well. I’m hoping that by my next birthday I drop at least 20 pounds.
