you have a craving for a particular type of food and its late and you dont want to go out and get the food and sleep late with the food still sitting in your stomach but you still have the urge to go out and buy the food but you are feeling sleepy and lazy? Well, thats how I feel right now.

I have a craving for this bangin bacon, egg and cheese on a whole wheat bagel sandwich. Man oh man, I cant wait til 2morrow morning. The sandwich is like $4 but its worth it.
ETA: I may even get the new Panera Bread breakfast sandwich. We shall see.

I wanted to make an authentic West African dish for Andy today called Akara. It’s this tasty deep fried snack that is made of black eyed peas. And it tastes really good.
I hope I prepare it right. I decided to make it 2morrow because I have been up all night removing the skin off the peas. Going to bed. Guten Nacht!

Today my mom and I went to NYC to stop by the Nigerian Consulate to get our visas. We still dont have our visas since we were given the run around but my mom will go back tomorrow with all of the paperwork. Anyways, we were getting hungry so we decided to go to this Chinese restaurant near Canal St. My mother has been there about 3 times now and she loves their food. The restaurant is called New Green Bo Chinese Restaurant. The food was great. But dont go by me because I’m used to eating at those unauthentic Chinese food restaurants.

We sat down at the restaurant and they served us tea. My mom ordered for me and since the portions were big, we shared. She ordered the scallion pancake. It’s an appetizer. It cost about $1.50 and it was big and tasty. Even the sauce that comes with the pancake tastes good. For the entree we had the pan fried seafood noodles. That was good too. And since New Green Bo is known for their dumplings…we had fried pork dumplings. They were good too. I was very happy with the food. And the price was ridiculous. For food for two, we paid only $18.75 with drinks (not including tip). Oh, I’m definitely coming back.

For those who dont know but McDonalds will be serving two sausage egg and cheese McMuffins for $3 bucks. I havent eaten McDonalds in awhile and all I want is the breakfast sandwich. I love McDonalds breakfast. I used to be a big fan of Burker King breakfast but for some reason the taste was rarely consistent and it didnt taste all that great.
I dont know I guess it depends on my mood because for awhile I didnt eat any McDonalds. Oh well, right now I want my two breakfast sandwiches for $3 and I will be the first in line 2morrow morning :-). Its funny how I get so excited about food and I’m trying to lose weight :-(. So far my weight loss is coming along. My next scheduled weigh in is next week. I hope I lost some more weight because I have been working out very hard. We’ll see.
FYI: I didnt go to the gym today because I was too tired. LOL!

I made some Penne alla Vodka for Andy Friday evening and he loves it. I think I may have put a little too much crushed red peppers because it kind of messed up his stomach, but he still eats it. So far he had about 4 servings. I got the recipe from Epicurious. I added some smoked sausage because Andy is a carnivore. Click on the link above to get the recipe.

I had the opportunity to try a Wendy’s buttermilk Frescuit sandwich with sausage, egg and cheese on frescata bread. And boy, was it tasty. It was a really good sandwich and I like the idea that Wendy’s breakfast sandwiches are different from it’s competitors.
They offer different types of bread and side orders. Instead of the typical hash brown you can substitute it for either a cinnamon roll or blueberry muffin.
I’m going back tomorrow to get the same sandwich. This time I will omit the sausage. I want to cut down on eating red meat. I can’t find a picture of the new breakfast sandwiches anywhere to save my life. However, I was able to get a pic from here.

Not even Wendys.com had any info about their new breakfast menu. Very odd.

Friday Andy took off from work because he wasnt feeling well and his dog and friend of 8 years died…Rudy. She was a Siberian Husky who died because she had cancer. Andy and his family are a bit sad right now. He wasnt as close to Rudy as he is with his rottweiler, Sonny, but Rudy was still part of the family.
That day we just chilled at my house and ate some fried whiting and french fries, drank beer and watched Bourne Ultimatum. We were planning on riding our bikes that day but it rained hard so we decided to ride on Saturday.
Saturday came and went. We finally rode our bikes. I rode about 10.53 miles. I’m really proud of myself. I just wish they make bike seats more comfortable. Then Andy and I got ready to go to Carmine’s restaurant in the theatre district of NYC. It food was good but not hot enough for us. We like our food piping hot. The portions are huge and they do encourage sharing, but Andy and I wanted to try different entree’s and not share.
Only a fraction of their entrees come with pasta, which I think doesnt make sense. Andy ordered the shrimp scampi and I ordered the chicken parmesan and it didnt come with pasta. So we had to pay for a plate of pasta which cost $10. Who eats shrimp scampi with no pasta? For dessert, I had the Italian cheesecake. It was very good. Anyways, we both had a great time and may plan to go back to Carmine’s with friends and/or family.
Sunday, Andy and I woke up hungry. We wanted to go to the Cracker Barrel again. This time I invited my mom. We both had the Big Momma’s pancake breakfast and my mom had the Big Momma’s french toast breakfast. The food was as usual great and everything came up to $28.61. My mom was suprised at the price. It was really cheap. We are definitely going back again.

Please note: I refuse to post pics of myself at C.B. because I didnt like the way I looked.
Whenever I eat a big meal I get really tired and I have to sleep. After my big breakfast at the Cracker Barrel I quickly drove home and went right to bed. I didnt have the chance to ride my bike because I was soooooooo tired. And it also rained so I dont feel too bad. Other than day my weekend was still short but I got a lot done.

From what I understand, Cracker Barrel sells one of the best breakfast. This seems like something only a select few knew. I didnt know. All this time instead of eating ICrap I could have gone to Cracker Barrel?

Luckily for me Andy went to Ohio and told me about C.B. He said he had the best breakfast he ever had. And that says a lot since Andy doesnt like to eat out too much. He’s not a big foodie like me. Tomorrow morning I’ve arranged to pick up Andy at the airport and from there were heading off to C.B. I’ll keep you posted on how the food taste.

On Friday, I decided to make a romantic dinner for Andy. I made him steamed snapper with vegetables and bammy. Bammy is a a pancake shaped, deep-fried cassava bread, which is aid to originate with the Arawaks Indians. Bammy is commonly served with fried fish. It’s a popular Jamaican bread. I usually dont cook so I was a bit nervous to cook for Andy. Andy is a really good cook and I didnt want to disappoint him. While I was cooking, I thought about taking a picture of the finished product so I can post it on my blog. But after I sucked on the last fish bone, that’s when I remembered that I forgot to take a picture. So obviously I dont have a picture of my cuisine, but good news…I’m going to cook the same dish 2morrow after work.
