Where’s Ron Corning?
8 05 2008I watch Good Day NY on Fox 5 news every single morning. And the news anchors I love to watch are Jodi Applegate and Ron Corning. To my surprise I noticed that Ron Corning hasnt been on tv for sometime now.
I thought to myself maybe he’s taking a really long vacation but something told me it wasnt that. Until I found this article on the net…(click on pic)
This is so foul. I am shocked to hear this happened to him. He was a really good news anchor. I’m confident he will be back on his feet.
I missed Ron Corning so much that I googled the phrase “where’s Ron Corning?” and found your post…. It makes me very sad that they sent Ron Corning on vacation, then sent him packing… I too watched Ron and Jodi every morning and I thought that the pair was so great together. I still watch GDNY because of Jodi and Mike Woods, but something really feels missing without Ron. Rick Fullbaum just doesn’t do it for me!!

i can’t agree more. ron and jodi had chemistry that is now sorely missed. Rick and Reid just don’t have what it takes to fill this man’s shoes. they need to bring him back… badly. the show is suffering… and so are the viewers…

I just googled Ron Corning because my wife and I have been trying to figure out what happened to him. I am just so shocked to find out Fox ny just let him go without any warning while he was on vacation…. Totally heartless. Ron and Jodi worked so well together, not to mention he was a very good interviewer.
Good Luck Ron, hope the suits at Fox ny stick around long enough to regret cutting you loose.

How months has it been, and I finally found out about Ron Corning. Watching fox 5 news has not been the same. Now we have the police commissioner’s son as a co anchor with Jodi. Wonder how he got the job?????? He is no where as good as Ron Corning. Fox 5 news is going to suffer.
I ALSO WAS A HUGE FAN OF GDNY SINCE THE BEGINNING AND HAVE SEEN SO MANY COME AND GO AND JUST WHEN THEY HAD IT RIGHT, THE RATINGS WERE RISING, DIANNE DOCTOR FIRES RON WHILE HE WAS ON VACATION. HOW CRUEL AND HOW RUDE. RON AND JODI HAD THAT SHOW MAKING OUR MORNING HUMOROUS, NOW I HAVE SWITCHED TO CW11, WHERE THEY RESPECT ONE ANOTHER AND IT IS ENJOYABLE. I AWAIT AS SO MANY FOR RON TO BE BACK ON TV AND HE WILL DO BETTER AS FOXES RATINGS ARE BAD, GOOD LUCK RON AND WE WILL FOLLOW YOU,
MANAGEMENT JUST DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE ANY RESPECT FOR THE FANS AND DIANNE DOCTOR WILL RUIN THIS STATION AS WELL AS SHE HAS RUINED SOME OTHERS. I’ve watched GDNY since it aired twenty years ago - infact their anniversary is today according to this morning’s program. I loved Jim Ryan, Lynn Brown,Larry Hoff, Dave Price, Lucy Noland, Chris Galis, Stacey Goodman and a few others. I so enjoyed Ron Corning and Jodi Applegate in the morning - they made a great team and were as light in nature as they were serious in their broadcasting. They were effortless. Greg Kelly and Jodi just don’t have it! He’s too stiff and now it seems that Jodi is trying too hard to capture that same rapport. Poor decision by management once again. The truth is I just turn it on for Mike Woods’ weather forcast and Ines Rosales traffic. Then I immediately switch to CW 11 or NBC 4. When Mike W. leavves, I’ll have no reason to turn GDNY ever again. Fox, I implore you to rethink your decision!
i agree with everything all the postivie posts and websites that have commented about ron corning as he was our breath of fresh air in the mornings with jodi and the gdny team as we called it the family who all connected.
lisa i also have watched the show since its first day and have seen the best go and with no explanation which is showing the fans no respect.
ron corning and jodi finally made gdny with mike and inez and the team the best, now i will not watch at all as it is a matter of time until mike woods leaves as fox is a station that is low rated and mike has the talent as did ron.
greg is good but as many have said not in a acnhor chair as he looks like he is scared to express himself and he is best at going where the world news is at.
jodi trys to bring out the best in the team, but just cannot seem to do it as the chemisrty between ron and jodi finally after so many years had it right.
the way they fired ron was just to show us that the management has no respect for its veiwers. i have seen new commercials on cw 11 saying what a great team with chemistry they have and they are so right.
we all wait for ron to return to a better staion as his talent and warmness is a blessing and jodi has lost it all.
ron good luck and let all the fans know where you will be as you will have all of us watching, fox gdny will be so sorry for this as i beleive in karma.
from a insider at fox i hear all cried when ron left and when the doctor was being shown around by rosanna they were cringing. her side kick lew will jump in whatever she says, can you imagine how her husband feels being married to this witch, read what the suitsnob had to say about her as she is far from femine, jodi stop trying to make it your show and look what they now did to christina, no respect..RON CORNING YOUR GONNA MOVE ON UP AND ALL WILL FOLLOW..AMAZING HOW MANY ARE STILL POSTING AFTER ALL THESE MONTHS, GOES TO SHOW YOUR AND WERE GDNY

I miss Ron a lot. Watching him and Jodi was a great way to start the morning. I hate the new guy…he’s the son of the police commissioner? He’s really dull. Bring back Ron, and dump the new Director….big mistake. I hardly every watch GDNY anymore, and stick with WNBC/Channel 4 (although I’m also thoroughly ticked off that they, WNBC, dumped Rob Morrison). At least Morrison’s replacement, Michael Gargulio (sp?) is pretty good….but I do really miss Ron, and Jodi just doesn’t seem as comfortable anymore. Lighten up, Fox, it’s morning (early morning!) television!! Mike Woods, watch out, you’ll be next, and that would be another tragedy!
aha - now we know why Ron Corning was let go so quickly — politically more viable for the NYC police commissioner’s son to be on GDNY? Nice guy but we loved Ron Corning. Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry disappointing.
